Van Gorp Named to the Big 12 Preseason Team

AMES, Iowa – Rachel Van Gorp has been named to the Big 12 Preseason Team as one of eight unanimous selections, the league announced Tuesday.
In addition, Iowa State was picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll.
Van Gorp is one of 19 on the list, and the only libero. The Olathe, Kansas native is the 21st Cyclone to earn a spot on the Big 12 Preseason Team. Van Gorp also was named to the 30-person AVCA Preseason Player of the Year Watch List in July.

The libero begins her junior season as the reigning AVCA National Libero of the Year and Big 12 Libero of the Year. Van Gorp's lengthy sophomore accolade list also includes AVCA Second Team All-America, AVCA All-Region, All-Big 12 First Team and two Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week awards.
Van Gorp returns to the court this Friday as the Cyclones host an exhibition at Hilton with SDSU. Action begins at 4 p.m. and admission is free.
