CINCINATTI, Ohio – The Iowa State men's golf team kicked off the 2026-27 season slow in round one, but rallied back with the sixth-best score in round two. The Cyclones posted a score of 580 over 36 holes.
Dianchao Wu led all Cyclones with a career-tying low round of 68 in the second round, helping him to a T-18th standing going into the final round. Wu finished with 10 birdies across the two rounds and tied for first on Par 3's today (2.50).
Freshman Ben Wheeler shot a 70 (-1) in the second round to notch his first sub-par round of his career in his debut tournament. He sits tied for 44th going into the final round tomorrow.
Owen Sawyer followed a slow start in round one with an even 71 in round two, scoring a 34 (-2) on the front nine.
Jackson McCommon shot four birdies in the second round today, finishing with a 72 (+1).
Junior Drew Hensen had a consistent second round, shooting par or better in 16/18 holes with a score of 72 (+1).
The final round of the Bearcat Invitational will take place tomorrow morning, with the Cyclones teeing off at 8:00 a.m. CT.
