Jaycie (Johnson) Ackerman was named an assistant coach on June 16, 2025.
Ackerman, a collegiate standout with Nebraska (2013-16), was drafted 27th overall in the 2017 NWSL Draft by the North Carolina Courage. Ackerman spent five seasons playing professional soccer in the NWSLÂ before retiring in late 2022. During her time in the pros, Ackerman played for the Courage (2017), OL Reign (2018-19) and the KC Current (2021-22).
Ackerman got her first taste of coaching during 2020, when she served as volunteer assistant for her alma mater, Nebraska. Following her retirement in 2022, she was named an assistant coach for the Kansas soccer program in 2023. After one year and a staff change at KU, Ackerman landed back in the Big 12 with K-State, where she spent the 2024 season also as an assistant coach.
A standout with the Huskers, Ackerman racked up the recognitions while in Lincoln. She was named a Third Team NSCAA All-American in 2016 and made the All-Big Ten First Team in 2016 while making the Second Team in 2013. Ackerman led the Cornhuskers in scoring in three of her four seasons and, as a freshman, she led the team with 17 goals, including four goals in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Ackerman became the fifth player and only freshman in NCAA Tournament history to score four times in a single game.
Jaycie Ackerman graduated from Nebraska with a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Public Relations in 2017.
