CINCINNATI, Ohio – For the second-straight contest, Iowa State (4-9-3, 1-8-1 Big 12) was shutout, as it fell at Cincinnati (5-7-6, 3-5-2 Big 12) on Sunday afternoon, 3-0.
The Cyclones fell behind early, as Cincy put two scores on the board in the first 20 minutes before tacking on a third first half goal to earn its second-straight win.
Ella Ciardullo attempted the most shots on the afternoon for the Cyclones, launching three at the net and seeing one saved. Megan Walters and Lucy Froitzheim each had two attempts, with three of the four chances ending in Cincinnati saves. Ella Zimmerman, Erin Hopewell and Chloe Broughton played the full 90 in the field, while Kasey Cannistraro did so between the pipes. Cannistraro collected six saves on the day.
For the Bearcats, Coley Sidloski had herself a senior day, notching two scores and earning an assist for five total points. Rylee Felton joined her in scoring her third goal of the season. Megan Smith was the third and final point scorer for Cincy, earning an assist on one of Sidloski's scores. In the net, Camryn Miller registered five saves as well as her eighth clean sheet of the season.
Cincinnati held the shot advantage on the day, 15-11, as well as the shot on goal edge, 9-5. Each team had six corner kicks, while ISU had one more save than the Bearcats (6-5).
How it Happened
The Bearcats were the aggressors out of the gates, taking four shots in the first 15 minutes. Cincinnati's fifth shot came in the 16th minute from Coley Sidloski who placed one into the top right of the net to beat Cannistraro and make it 1-0.
Cincy tacked on a second score just four minutes later, as Rylee Felton used a Sidloski feed to sneak one past into the bottom left of the net.
ISU tried to respond to Cincinnati's two quick scores, but both subsequent shots were handled by the Bearcats.
In the 36th minute, Sidloski scored her second goal of the day to make things 3-0.
At the half, Cincinnati had more shots (9-6), saves (3-2) and corners than the Cyclones (4-1).
ISU was unable to get on the board in the second stanza, eventually falling to Cincy, 3-0.
