Seth Junion was named the Iowa State Soccer Development Coordinator on February 17, 2025.Â
Junion arrived in Ames after spending three years (2022-24) at Western Kentucky where he was on the soccer staff as an Assistant Coach. His primary duties with the Hilltoppers were training, mentoring and developing the team's goalkeepers. During his time in Bowling Green, Goalkeeper Maddie Davis moved to third all-time in program history for clean sheets in a career. Davis also amassed three C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week awards, made the All-C-USA Second Team and was the C-USA Goalkeeper of the Year in 2024. Another standout under Junion, GK Alexis Bach, amassed one C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week honor and was All-CUSA Second Team in 2022. The Hilltoppers boasted less than 1 GAA in C-USA play during his tenure.
At WKU, Junion was also responsible for managing the recruiting database, team and player analysis, small group and individual sessions, facilitating leadership curriculum sessions, digital design, and directing youth camps. He was also involved in the local club scene as a Director of Goalkeeping and Head Coach of the u19 age group.
Junion spent the 2021 season at Bellarmine University as an assistant. He primarily focused on the development of goalkeepers in his role with the Knights. Towards the end of his time with Bellarmine, Junion's role expanded to include additional recruiting, player campus visits and team training responsibilities. Junion's lone season with the Knights was only the second year of competing in Division I for Bellarmine. The team made its first conference semifinal appearance after two penalty kicks were saved against the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals. The Knights secured five team clean sheets that season. During that time, he was also involved as a u19 coach at Racing Louisville.
Junion's playing career concluded in a reserve role at Xavier University (2015-16) after injuries. At Xavier, he earned a B.S. in Actuarial Science with a minor in Finance and a focus in Strategic Innovation in 2018 after just three years of study.
Junion currently hold a US Soccer C Coaching License as well as the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping III diploma.
