Oregon got on the board first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Cyclone hurler Jen Bice walked Alyssa Laux, Triawan Custer and Missy Coe to load the bases. Andrea Vidlund doubled to left field to score Laux and Custer giving the Ducks a 2-0 lead.
Iowa State answered back scoring one run in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Adi Blackmon singled and advanced to second on a Julia Lindsay sacrifice hit. Blackmon scored on a RBI double by Cathey to make it 2-1.
The Ducks expanded its lead in the top of the second scoring three runs on four hits. Kelly Planche singled to left field and advanced to third on a bunt by Lisa Wangler. Lynsey Haij singled to first base to load the bases. Bice walked Laux to score Planche. Coe doubled to left field scoring Wangler and Haij to give Oregon a 5-1 lead.
The Cyclones scored another run in the bottom of the second. Mindy Ogan walked and advanced to second as Kimi Yoshizawa reached first on an error. Ogan scored on an error by Oregon center fielder Holly Ray to make it 5-2.
Oregon added one more run in the top of the sixth inning. Wangler singled and stole second. A Haij single to left field advanced Wangler to third base. Laux singled to third base to load the bases. Wangler scored on a Custer ground out to give the Ducks a 6-2 lead.
Bice (1-3) recorded the loss for the Cyclones, allowing six runs on nine hits while fanning seven.
Iowa State (3-5) continues play in the Troy Cox Classic when they take on Houston at 6:45 p.m. Saturday night.
