LINCOLN, Neb. - The Iowa State softball team fell to No. 10 Nebraska, 7-0 Saturday at the Nebraska Softball Complex.
The Huskers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second after a two-run double by freshman hurler Peaches James.
Nebraska added a run in the third with an RBI single from Nicole Trimboli, and a two-out double from Leigh Suhr in the bottom of the fourth scored Amanda Buchholz and James. The Huskers wrapped up the scoring in the fifth, taking a 7-0 lead when Cindy Roethemeyer ripped a two-out double to left center, sending Trimboli and Amber Burgess home.
Sophomore Jen Bice recorded the loss for the Cyclones, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in four innings. Reliever Kristin Ferguson gave up two hits and fanned one batter in two innings. Mindy Ogan was 1-of-2 at the plate while Julia Lindsay and Adi Blackmon each recorded a hit.
Iowa State returns to action on May 9 at 5 p.m. when they take on Texas A&M in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla.
