COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Tigers shut out the Iowa State soccer team 3-0 in Big 12 action Friday. Missouri improves its record to 9-4-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Big 12. Iowa State falls to 5-8-1 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Missouri outshot Iowa State 8-3 in a scoreless first half. The Tigers stayed on the attack in the second half and finally broke through at the 56-minute mark. Jennifer Nobis scored off a pass from Missy Peabody to break the deadlock. Nobis struck again less than seven minutes later, tallying her fifth goal of the season. Nobis notched her fifth point of the night when she assisted on Adriene Davis' goal with less than two minutes to go.
Missouri goalkeeper Stephanie Krawczyk recorded six saves in posting her first shutout of the season.
The Tigers finished the game with a 21-9 advantage in shots, marking the third time an Iowa State opponent has taken 20 or more shots in a game in 2002. Nobis and Peabody had six shots each for Missouri. Kristina Baumann led the Cyclones with four shots. Baumann has fired four or more shots in a game five different times this season and leads ISU with 44 shots.
Iowa State plays its final road game of the regular season at Kansas, Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
