AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team fell to Texas A&M 3-0 today at the Southwest Athletic Complex. The Cyclones fell to 13-10 on the season and 4-2 in the Big 12 Conference.
Texas A&M got on the board first scoring one run in the top of the first inning. Selena Collins singled and stole second. Collins scored on an error by ISU centerfielder Amberly Lessenger to give A&M a 1-0 lead. A Collins home run gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning.
Texas A&M expanded the lead in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs Lisa Klam tripled to score pinch runner Lauren Ripple to give A&M a 3-0 lead.
Jen Bice (7-5 overall and 2-1 Big 12) took the loss for the Cyclones, giving up three runs on 12 hits while fanning three. Erica Martinez, Julia Lindsey and Lessenger each recorded a hit for ISU.
Iowa State returns to action on April 3 when they travel to Des Moines, Ia., to face Drake. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
