AMES, Iowa - The Wisconsin soccer team topped Iowa State 4-0 in the final game of the Cyclone Classic Sunday. The defeat was Iowa State's first of the season, ending a three-game winning streak. Wisconsin improves to 2-1-1 on the season.
Arizona captured the tournament title after beating Northern Iowa 5-0 Sunday. Arizona and Wisconsin tied Friday, and ISU topped UNI 2-1. The Wildcats and Badgers both finished the weekend with one win and one tie, but Arizona earned the crown with a one-goal advantage on overall goal-differential.
Tournament MVP Jenny Kundert scored two goals and added an assist in the game against Iowa State. Kundert fed Sarah Capel for a score in the 12th minute, and Molly Meuer added a score late in the half. Kundert scored her goals in the 67th and 82nd minutes.
Arizona's Naomi Chu and Vanesha Bailey won the tournament's offensive and defensive MVP awards, respectively. Iowa State's Deb Benakis and Lindsey Lees were named to the all-tournament team. Benakis scored both Cyclone goals in Friday's victory.
The Iowa State soccer team is back in action against Minnesota at the ISU Soccer Complex, Friday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.
