CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The Iowa State softball team lost to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 2-0, in extra innings, and to Minnesota, 1-0, in nine innings on Sunday in the team's last two game of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tournament. With the losses, finishes the tournament with a 1-3 record and an overall record of 10-12.
The Cyclones had three hits in the game, compared to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's seven. At the end of the seventh inning, the two teams were at a scoreless tie. The Islanders scored in the eighth inning on a single and a wild pitch by ISU. In ISU's eighth inning, junior Julia Lindsey had the Cyclones' lone hit, but it was caught by the second basemen to the end the inning and the game.
Sophomore Lindsey Herrin pitched her second game for the Cyclones and recorded the loss. She had two strikeouts for the Cyclones.
Against Minnesota, the Cyclones lost, 1-0, in nine innings. ISU had a season-low one hit to the Golden Gophers' six hits. Sophomore Kim Rodgers had Iowa State's lone hit. Senior Erica Martinez was the team's pitcher and had 10 strikeouts. Her record falls to 8-4.
Iowa State will continue its Texas road trip when it travels to San Antonio to take on Texas-San Antonio on Tuesday, March 18, at 3 p.m.
