COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Iowa State softball team dropped two games to Missouri Thursday afternoon in Columbia, Mo. The Cyclones lost game one, 1-0, and lost game two, 4-0. With the losses, Iowa State's record falls to 14-22 overall and 2-7 in Big 12 play.
In game one, freshman Kristen Karanzias pitched her third complete game of the season, striking out two batters. She took the loss and her record falls to 2-1.
ISU had three hits to Missouri's six. The two teams were in a scoreless tie until the bottom of the eighth inning when Missouri's Sara Vassmer scored after ISU committed two errors. The Cyclones lost the game, 1-0. Cary Akins, Ashley Core and Julia Lindsey all had hits for the Cyclones.
In game two, senior Jen Bice was the pitcher of record in a 4-0 Iowa State loss. She took the loss and her record falls to 0-4 on the season. Missouri had four hits to ISU's one and the Cyclones committed two errors to the Tigers one. Akins got ISU's lone hit of game two.
Iowa State will host a home series with Baylor on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13. Saturday's game against Baylor will start at 2 p.m.
