COLLEGE STATION, Texas ? The Iowa State softball team fell to No. 6 Texas A&M, 3-0, as the Aggies scored two of their three runs in the first inning on Saturday at Aggie Softball Complex. The loss, which is ISU's sixth consecutive setback, drops the Cyclones to 12-21 overall and 0-7 in Big 12 play.
The Iowa State offense was held to one hit on the afternoon by Texas A&M hurler Amanda Scarbourgh. ISU's lone hit was a one-out single to center field by Diana Reuter in the fifth inning. Scarbourgh also recorded six strikeouts in the complete game victory.
Cyclone sophomore Alyssa Ransom suffered the loss, giving up three runs on four hits with only one being earned due to four ISU errors on the day. Ransom's record dropped to 6-12 on the season.
The two teams meet again on Sunday in the series finale, which is scheduled for a noon first pitch.
