Cyclones Fall To Nebraska, 6-0

LINCOLN, Neb. ? Ashley DeBuhr tossed a four-hit shutout as Nebraska defeated Iowa State, 6-0, on Tuesday evening at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

With the loss, Iowa State falls to 22-32 overall and 1-8 in Big 12 play. The Huskers, who have won six straight games, improve to 33-13 overall and 5-5 in league play.

DeBuhr (17-6) held the Cyclones to just four hits while striking six.

The Huskers got on the board in the first as an error on the Cyclones allowed two unearned runs to come across.

Devin Porter executed a squeeze play and Jamie Waldecker delivered a run scoring single to make it 2-0 Huskers after one inning of action.

A homer by Nebraska first baseman Crystal Carwile in the bottom of the third inning increased the Husker lead to 3-0.

Nebraska tacked on three runs on four hits in the fifth inning to push its lead to the final margin.

The Cyclones had a scoring opportunity in the third, putting runners on first and second with one-out. Jessica Quade and Fallon Johnson had a hit in the inning but DeBuhr was able to get Alex Johnson to fly out to right field, ending the threat.

Amanda Bradberry and Alex Johnson each added hits for the Cyclones in the loss.

Alyssa Ransom (10-13) got the loss for Iowa State, allowing six runs and nine hits.

The Cyclones and Huskers will play again Thursday, this time in Ames, with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Southwest Athletics Complex. Admission to the game is free and live stats will be available at Cyclones.com.
