AMES, Iowa? The Iowa State soccer team battled to an even score line with 15th-ranked Colorado Sunday, as the Cyclones settled for a 0-0 draw at the ISU Soccer Complex.
Despite the goalless score, the match had its fair share of drama. With just over 10 minutes to play, the Cyclones saved a ball off the goal line. And, as the clock wound down, junior forward Amanda Nimtz penetrated through the Colorado defense to have a one-on-one breakaway with Buffaloes' goalkeeper Kristin Radlinski. Nimtz's low shot forced Radlinksi to make a save with her feet just before the final horn.

First-year coach Wendy Dillinger was pleased with her side's performance.
“I felt this was the first time the team played totally together and supported each other,” she said. “We played as an entire defensive unit today. They covered each other and they were getting forward together.”
Dillinger felt the play of junior midfielder Jordan Bishop epitomized the squad's all-around performance.
“Jordan is very good player,” Dillinger said. “I think her ability to play both sides of the ball and ignite the team is something she is starting to take a handle of and realize that's her role.”
With the draw, Iowa State (5-9-2, 0-5-2 Big 12) earns its second point in the Big 12 Conference standings.
Colorado (12-2-3, 5-1-2 Big 12) held a 15-6 shots-on-goal advantage in the match and had a 5-2 edge on corner kicks. Junior forward Elise Reid paced ISU with four shots in the match, while Nimtz had a team-best two shots on frame.
Iowa State split time in net. Junior Ann Gleason started the match and had her fourth consecutive scoreless half while making three stops. Sophomore Ashley Costanzo relieved Gleason at halftime and played the remainder of the contest. Costanzo made 12 saves, highlighted by some sprawling stops.
Iowa State heads to Oklahoma for its next two matches. The Cyclones are at 11th-ranked Oklahoma State (13-1-2, 4-1-2 Big 12) Friday for a 7 p.m. game. They then take on Oklahoma (2-13-1, 1-5-1 Big 12) Sunday at 1 p.m. in Norman.
