As they did in the weekend's first two games, the Longhorns came out and put a run on the board in the opening frame to take the early lead. Following back-to-back UT hits to lead-off, Holly Kern hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Lindsey Stephens. Cyclone starter Emma Hylen then recorded two consecutive strikeouts to the end the frame.
The Texas offense was back at it in the following frame, scoring three runs in the second inning, including a two-run homer by Stephens that extended the Longhorn lead to 4-0. ISU's lone hit of the day came in the bottom of the second, courtesy of freshman Sally Woolpert.
Texas added two more runs in the third, as Hylen was replaced by fellow freshman Savannah Sanders, who was able to cool down the UT bats for a time. Following scoreless frames in the fourth and fifth inning, Texas tacked on four more runs in the sixth to close out the win, 10-0.
