Last Time Out
Iowa State is coming off back-to-back wins against SEC opponents last weekend. The Cyclones traveled to Auburn, Ala., for the Auburn Soccer Classic. The Cyclones knocked off No. 21 Auburn, 1-0, on a Kasey Opfer header on a corner kick from Emily Steil. Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Hendon recorded her second shutout of the weekend when the Cyclones topped the Georgia Bulldogs, 2-0, on a pair of freshmen goals from Tegan Alexander and Hannah Cade. Hendon was awarded for her performance by being named Co-MVP of the Auburn Soccer Classic and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.

Scouting the Hawkeyes
The Cyclones will battle the Hawkeyes in the second event of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series Friday night at home. Iowa leads the all-time series, 10-6-2, but the home team has been victorious in the last three meetings including a 2-1 Cyclone win in 2014 in front of a record 2,090 fans. The Hawkeyes have been hot of late. After dropping their season opener at Creighton, 5-3, they have ripped off five-straight.
Â
Scoring has not been an issue for the Iowa attack. The Hawkeyes are averaging three goals per game including nine goals in their last two games combined. The Iowa frontline is headlined by senior Bri Toelle. Toelle has scored four goals in the past three games combined including a two-goal outing vs. Wyoming.
Â
What to Watch For
This matchup will feature contrasting strongpoints. The Cyclones stellar backline and goalkeeper play have combined for three shutouts and only allowed one shot in the home opener while the Iowa defense has just one shutout and allowed five goals against Creighton. ISU defeated Creighton, 3-1, earlier this season. Offensively, the Hawks have been finding the back of the net often. Neither team has been shutout so far this season. The Cyclones will need to be creative in the offensive third of the pitch because this could turn into a high-scoring affair. Look for freshmen Tegan Alexander and Hannah Cade to spark the Cyclone attack.
Â
Scouting the Panthers
The Cyclones and Panthers have split their only two meetings. Their last meeting was in 2012 where Iowa State came out with a 2-1 victory. Milwaukee enters the weekend with a 3-2-1 record even after outscoring their opponents 10-to-5. The Panthers will take on intra-city rival Marquette on Friday night before taking on the Cyclones. Milwaukee relies on experience on the offensive end. Redshirt senior Maria Stephans and senior Callie O'Donnell lead the way with three goals apiece.
Â
What to Watch For
The Cyclones will you their depth to battle the Panthers. With both teams coming off of rivalry games, fitness will come into play on Sunday. Iowa State has 17 players that played in every game to Milwaukee's ten. Five of Iowa State's nine goals have come from a player coming off of the bench.
