The native of Henderson, Nev., buried a shot in the 36th minute off an assist from Claudia Najera to tie the match at 1-1. Iowa State's two goals on Friday were its most in Big 12 play this season. The Cyclones also tallied a season-high seven shots on goal in the match.
3. Redshirt freshman Kenady Adams also got in on the scoring in Austin, netting her second goal of the season in the 90th minute. Adams collected a Hannah Cade free kick off the post and put it in the back of the net to cut the Texas lead to 3-2 with less than 30 seconds remaining in the match.
4. Najera, a freshman midfielder, has excelled at distributing to Iowa State's goal scorers this season. The native of St. Charles, Ill., now has a team-high four assists, including a give-and-go on Hays' goal at UT. Najera has also assisted on a pair of game-winning goals by fellow freshman Mira Emma (vs. Omaha, vs. SIU Edwardsville).
