Iowa State Announces Student-Athletes of the Semester

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics Academic Services has named the 2022 fall student-athletes of the semester. The student athletes are Annie Hatch, Paniro Johnson, Quinton Orr and Izzi Zingaro.
Annie Hatch – Volleyball
Hometown: Mesa, Arizona
Major: Animal Ecology
Hatch is fresh off completing her senior campaign after totaling 121 kills through the season and notching a new career-high .560 hitting percentage on 16 kills. Hatch has put up season kill totals over 100 each year and has earned both Big 12 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors through her career. Hatch is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member.
Paniro Johnson, Wrestling
Hometown: Erie, Pennsylvania
Major: Pre-Business
As a true freshman, Johnson holds a record of 9-2 with wins over No. 2 Austin Gomez, No. 6 Max Murin and No. 17 Shayne Van Ness. His only losses on the season have come in sudden victory against No. 1 and No. 7-ranked opponents. Johnson put the wrestling world on notice in the first semester and is ranked fifth in the country in the first coaches' rankings of the season.
Quinton Orr, Men's Track and Field/Cross Country
Hometown: Humboldt, Iowa
Major: Biology
Orr opened his sophomore track and field season this past weekend at the Cyclone Open with a personal record mile time of 4:10.17. In the 2022 cross country season, Orr ran in three meets for the Cyclones, including a 10th-place finish at the Mizzou XC Opener. Orr is also an Academic All-Big 12 First Team member.
Izzi Zingaro, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Bolton, Ontario, Canada
Major: Marketing
Zingaro is currently in her redshirt-sophomore campaign, capping her most recent contest with a career-high 11-point performance in under 14 minutes of play as the Cyclones picked up the win against Kansas. Last season, Zingaro played in 17 games for the Cyclones. Zingaro is an Academic All-Big 12 Second team member.
The Iowa State Athletics Office of Student-Athlete Development had the opportunity to nominate student-athletes that exemplified strong academics throughout the semester. The staff then voted on the fall 2022 student-athletes of the semester.
