Iowa State faces its first Big 12 newcomer Saturday when it travels to Cincinnati for an 11 a.m. CT showdown at Nippert Stadium.

SERIES NOTE: Iowa State and Cincinnati have never met, but Cyclone head coach Matt Campbell is 1-1 all-time against the Bearcats from his time leading Toledo. Campbell and Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield were on the offensive staff together at Toledo in 2009 as assistant coaches. Campbell was the running game coordinator and offensive line coach, while Satterfield was passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

3 – Sacks allowed by the Iowa State offensive line through six games, the fewest through six games of the Campbell era … ISU is tied for second nationally for fewest sacks allowed … at this point of last season, ISU's offensive line had allowed 14 sacks.

10 – Iowa State ranks third nationally and second among Big 12 schools with 10 interceptions, surpassing last season's mark (7) … ISU is the only team nationally with two players with three or more INTs (Jeremiah Cooper – 4; Beau Freyler – 3).

27 – Number of underclassmen (Fr-RSo) that have played in every game for the Cyclones this season, including five true freshmen … the 27 underclassmen is tied with Penn State for the most nationally.

49 – Matt Campbell has 49 wins as head coach of the Cyclones as he looks to become just the second coach in school history to reach No. 50 (Dan McCarney – 56).

FREYLER MAKING PLAYS
Junior Beau Freyler had one interception in his first 725 snaps played at the college level but this season the safety has three in 330 snaps. He is the only Big 12 player ranked in the league's Top 10 for both tackles (46) and interceptions (3). He was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week this week. Read about it here.

ON THE GROUND
Iowa State is averaging 5.7 yards per carry the last two weeks, fourth in the Big 12 Conference. Last week, Abu Sama III and Eli Sanders both rushed for touchdowns, the first time since the 2022 season opener that the Cyclones had two different running backs reach the end zone in the same game.

True freshman Brendan Black started for the Cyclones at right guard against TCU, becoming the first ISU true freshman to start on the o-line since Kelechi Osemele and Scott Haughton in 2008.
