Jayden Higgins surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark on the season at Utah last week. With 1,015 receiving yards this year, he is just the seventh Cyclone in program history to reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark in a season.

Jaylin Noel needs just 24 yards to surpass 1,000 this season. Noel and Higgins would become the first set of Cyclone teammates in program history to top the mark in the same season. Iowa State is one of two schools nationally with two players over 900 receiving yards this season (San Jose State).

SECOND-HALF STOPPERS
Since the start of the 2021 season, Iowa State has allowed just 416 points in the second half of its 49 games, an average of 8.5 points. This season, ISU is allowing just 8.1 points and 143.0 yards in the second half of games.

The Cyclones have allowed just 55 points in the fourth quarter of games. Included are a touchdown in a blowout win against Arkansas State, a late TD against WVU, a 1-yard drive against UCF, a pick-6 against Kansas and a blocked punt return at Utah.

FAMILIAR FOE
Iowa State and Kansas State will meet for the 108th time in series history. It is ISU's most-played series, which dates back to 1917 and has been played every year since. It is the eighth-longest uninterrupted active series in FBS college football.

In last year's meeting, the teams battled in a snowstorm as Iowa State earned a 42-35 win in Manhattan, its second-straight on the road in the series. The Cyclones scored on five plays of at least 60 yards, including three Abu Sama runs of 60+ yards as the true freshman ran for 276 yards. Jaylin Noel had TD catches of 79 and 82 yards in the win. K-State ran 102 plays to just 35 offensive plays for the Cyclones, but total yards were just 497-488 in favor of the Wildcats. ISU ran just two plays in K-State territory and Rocco Becht threw only 12 passes for 230 yards.

OTHER KEY STORYLINES

Iowa State has reached nine wins for the fourth time in the program's 133-year history and just the second time in the regular season (1906). The Cyclones are bowl eligible for the seventh time in nine seasons under Campbell.
Rocco Becht has thrown a TD pass in 15-straight games. He is just the fifth QB in school history to pass for 6,000 career yards. Against Utah, Becht led the Cyclones on his third, fourth quarter game-winning drive of the season. In his career, he's rallied the Cyclones from a fourth quarter deficit four times.
Becht has one of the best wide receiving duos in college football at his disposal in Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. In eight of 11 games they have combined for at least 10 catches, 175 yards and a score, the most nationally by a set of teammates.
First-year offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser has the offense clicking. ISU is averaging 31.4 points (fourth-most in school history) and has topped 30 points in five of eight Big 12 games. With Becht finding Higgins and Noel at a record clip, ISU is averaging 269.0 passing yards.
ISU's defense, under Jon Heacock's direction, is first in the Big 12 and ranks 19th nationally allowing just 19.5 points per game. It is the fewest points allowed by a Cyclone defense since 2005. Its passing defense has been stout, yielding just 151.2 yards per game (third nationally). ISU has held a nation's-best four opponents to under 100 yards passing. In seven games, opponents have had less than 100 yards either rushing or passing.
The Cyclone defense has a +7 turnover margin, which ranks among the top 25 nationally. Seven different Cyclones have combined for 14 interceptions to rank among the nation's top 10.
