AMES, Iowa – A trio of Cyclones picked up Big 12 honors as the league announced 2024 awards Tuesday. Brooke Stonestreet and Amiree Hendricks-Walker were placed on the All-Big 12 Second Team while Rachel Van Gorp earned her spot on the All-Rookie Team.
Stonestreet and Hendricks-Walker are the 29th and 30th Cyclones in program history to earn Big 12 honors, while Iowa State now totals 55 honors. Van Gorp is the 14th freshman selected to the All-Rookie team.
Stonestreet ended Big 12 play averaging 4.57 digs per set to rank fourth in the conference. The senior totaled 447 digs, with 320 in conference, to bring her carer total to 1,463 and rank eighth on the program list among the best liberos in Iowa State history. Stonestreet had 19 double-digit dig matches in 2024 to total 69 in her career, the eighth most in the program. Stonestreet also earned her fourth Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor to become the fifth in ISU history to earn four.
The libero had her first double-double with 27 digs and 10 assists, and totaled 22 aces and 96 assists through the season. Also a reliable receiver, Stonestreet totaled 582 receptions at a percentage of .966.
First-year Cyclone Hendricks-Walker showed to be an efficient hitter and blocker, totaling 181 kills at .330 hitting while putting up 73 total blocks. Hendricks-Walker had a career-high 18 kills on just 27 attempts (.593 hitting) to open conference and hit at a season high .667 with an errorless 10 kills vs. Texas Tech. The middle had five matches with six or more blocks and six matches with 10-plus kills at a hitting percentage of .300 or greater.
True freshman Van Gorp, who began the season as the libero, transitioned into a front row hitter as ISU dealt with injuries. Van Gorp earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week Oct. 29 and totaled 323 digs, 92 kills and a team-leading 23 aces in her first year out. The rookie had three double-doubles, with two of them coming against ranked teams. Van Gorp performed to two 20-dig matches and had double-figure digs in 20 of 25 matches played, even following her switch to outside hitter. Iowa State has now placed a freshman on the All-Rookie Team three seasons in a row.
