AMES, Iowa – Iowa State volleyball has announced the addition of three transfers who will join the Cyclones this spring season.
"Abbi, Ava and Nayeli are wonderful additions to our team both on and off the court," Head Coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said. "They all have a lot of experience, are talented and understand what it takes to play at a high level. I have really enjoyed getting to know each of them – they are special young women and will fit in perfectly with the awesome group we have returning."
Nayeli Ti'a spent the previous three seasons at San Jose State and will enter the 2025 season as a redshirt junior. The outside hitter from Livermore, Calif. ranked second on the team hitting 228 kills averaging 3.45 per set in the 2024 season. Also in 2024, Ti'a earned Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honors and put up double-digit kills in 13 of 17 matches. In her two collegiate seasons, Ti'a totals 15 double-doubles, 515 kills, 405 digs, 96 blocks and 58 aces.
Ava Martin, also a San Jose State transfer, just completed her freshman season at setter. Playing in 11 matches, Martin totaled 108 assists and had a career high of 27 assists in 2024. The Leawood, Kan. native also served up eight aces, including a career-best three.
Abbi Brenizer joins Iowa State as a junior in 2025 after completing her career at DMACC as a middle blocker/right side hitter. Brenizer is fresh off earning NJCAA Division II Second Team All-America honors and led her conference in kills with 424, hitting at an efficient .341. In 41 matches in the 2024 season, the Norwalk, Iowa native also totaled 142 blocks to rank sixth in the nation.
