AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (3-6, 0-2 Big 12) fell to Arizona State (5-4, 1-1 Big 12) Friday night at Hilton Coliseum in the Big 12 home opener. ISU finished with 195.825, and Arizona State with 195.950. Friday's score was a season-high for the Cyclones.
"It was a close one tonight, it just comes down to those little details," Head Coach Ashley Miles Greig said. "We just need to keep fighting for every little detail. But there were definitely some highlights this evening with Haylee Hardin and Frederique Sgarbossa, so I believe there are going to be many more things to celebrate this season with this team." Â
Freshman Haylee Hardin led the Cyclones once again this week with a score of 9.950. Not only is this a new career high, but it was also the highest individual score of the evening for Iowa State. Hardin proceeded to be a standout on vault as well, where she scored a 9.8. The Cyclone floor routines continued to have strong showings. Frederique Sgarbossa was another high scorer tonight with a 9.9 on bars – a career high.

Haylee Hardin was the high scorer on vault this evening for Iowa State with a 9.800. Noelle Adams and Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa were close behind, each scoring a 9.775 for the Cyclones. It was the lowest score of the season on vault for the Cyclones.

Following right behind was senior Lauren Thomas with a 9.850. The 9.900 was the highest score on bars by any Cyclone this year.

Haylee Hardin capped off a strong scoring night for the Cyclones with her extraordinary floor routine, earning a 9.95. This is a new career high for the freshman and is the highest score by any Cyclone this year. Rachel Wilke and Noelle Adams also had great nights, posting a pair of 9.875s. For Wilke, she now has three 9.875 scores on floor this year.
