Zach May Tied for Second After Day One of the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. - In an attempt to counter weather conditions that may affect tomorrow's play, teams played as many holes as possible today at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. Majority of the teams in the field got 3-6 holes into the third round before play was suspended. After two rounds, Zach May was tied for 2nd (-6), and had a team-high ten birdies. His 68 in the first round was the third-lowest score in the round, and May's 15th round in the 60's of his career. The Cyclones finished in ninth place (287-292, +3) after the first two rounds.
Paul Beauvy was tied for 12th (-1) after two rounds of play. Beauvy had eight birdies in the first two rounds and carded his 25th round in the 60's in the first round today (69). Jackson McCommon finishes the first two rounds tied for 54th (+6). McCommon carded five birdies in his first two rounds of the day to surpass 100 birdies on his career (102).Â
Luke Metcalf is playing in his first tournament of the year, where he is also currently tied for 54th, finishing the day with six birdies. Dianchao Wu rounds out the Cyclones, tied for 61st at seven-over par. Wu totaled six birdies and an eagle, his second of his career.Â
#38 Texas A&M led the team race after two rounds, sitting ten strokes under par after a nine-under second round. #66 Yixiang Wang from Memphis sat atop the individual leaderboard at seven-under par after carding a 66 in the first round.
