Cyclones Fall To Illinois

URBANA, Ill. – The Iowa State tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision Friday afternoon to Illinois at Atkins Tennis Center. The loss moves the Cyclones to 4-2 overall, while Illinois improves to 3-5 this season.

The Cyclones No. 1 doubles pairing of Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Cristina Ramos Sierra was the highlight of the match for the Cyclones, earning a dominant 6-0 sweep of the nation's No. 61 duo of Kida Ferrari and Megan Heuser. The Cyclone pair improved to 4-1 playing together this season.

Illinois bounced back after the ISU win at No. 1. The Fighting Illini took courts two and three by identical 6-2 scores to secure the doubles point.

In singles action, Illinois rolled to wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 to earn the victory.

Julia Camblor held a 6-4, 4-3 lead at No. 2 singles against Heuser when the match was completed, while ISU was down a set at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

Iowa State looks to bounce back Sunday when it hosts South Dakota at the Iowa State Tennis Facility at 10 a.m.
