AMES, Iowa – Iowa State cruised to a 5-2 win against Wyoming (1-7) Saturday at the Iowa State Tennis Facility as it improved to 4-1 this season, already matching its win total from a season ago.
After clinching the doubles point behind wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 pairings, Julia Camblor got back on track with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Ceinos Eugenia at No. 2 singles.
Anna Supapitch Kuearum continued her hot start to the season. The nation's No. 70-ranked player earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Violetta Borodina to put the Cyclones up 3-0. Kuearum has now won five-straight for the Cyclones.
Cristina Ramos Sierra, coming off her match-clinching victory at Iowa on Wednesday, earned the deciding point again on Saturday. The freshman beat Wyoming's Ruby Young, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3 singles to put the Cyclones up 4-0.
The match was played out after the clinch as Mari Paz Alberto Vilar defeated Ana Kochelaevskaia, 7-6 (4), 6-1.
The Cowgirls took No. 5 and No. 6 singles in super tiebreakers.
The Cyclones return to action Friday at Illinois at 4 p.m.
