McClain Moves to No. 3 in ISU History

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Mikey McClain posted the fastest 200m time by a Cyclone since 1995 as Iowa State closed the Kansas Relays.

McClain went 20.68 in the 200m final at a wind-legal reading of 1.9 m/s to win the event. The sophomore took down his previous best of 20.94 to move up from No. 7 to No. 3 in school history. The time ranks as the 32^nd fastest in the nation.

Brooklyn Sandvig crossed the finish line in 23.65w in the women's 200m final, an all-conditions best. Sandvig finished second in the field.

In the shot put, Cam Jones placed fourth with another mark this season over 60 feet, while Garret Wagner hit a personal best on his first attempt.

In hurdles finals, freshman Riyah Burns secured second for the women with a 100m hurdles time of 14.12, while Grayson Hartman took seventh for the men in 110m hurdles with 14.80.

Amari Laing leapt to an outdoor long jump best of 18-11 ¾ (5.78m) to place fourth.

Drake Relays are next up, April 23-26.
