AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head tennis coach Jaron Maestas announced the addition of a transfer and a high school player to the Cyclone roster for the 2025-26 season.
North Texas transfer Stanislava Shulzhenko joins the program after compiling 23 dual singles victories in two seasons for the Mean Green. The Kharkiv, Ukraine, native posted a 15-8 record when playing at No. 3 singles and earned a win against the Cyclones this season at that position in the lineup. Shulzhenko also posted a 22-15 record in doubles action in her two seasons in Denton.
Shulzhenko, who has two years of eligibility remaining, owns a 9.41 UTR.
"We are super excited to add some experience to a young team and Stanislava will provide that," Maestas said. "She will bring a great work ethic and an excitement for playing at this level."
Valentina Vargas has a 9.56 UTR out of Guayaquil, Ecuador. She ranks 289 in Junior ITF rankings and has a best women's WTA ranking of 1,325. Vargas will enter the program as a freshman.
"Valentina will be a great addition to our program and we are super excited for her to join the team next season," Maestas said. "She is another brick as we continue to build our program."
