AMES, Iowa – After suffering its first Big 12 series-opening loss of the season on Friday, Iowa State (29-22, 14-9 Big 12) bounced back in fashion on Saturday as it walked off Baylor (26-25, 11-12 Big 12), winning 2-1.
After 10 runs were scored in the series opener, a true pitcher's duel broke out in game two. Both teams would plate a run in the second, but the score would remain knotted at one heading into the seventh frame. After Baylor went down in order, ISU saw McKenna Andrews double in Isabelle Nosan to walk off the Bears and give ISU its 29th win of the season.
As of Saturday afternoon, Iowa State sits third in the Big 12 standings as it attempts to secure a top-five seed and a first-round bye in next week's Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.
Karlee Ford led Iowa State with two hits on the day as the rookie had a pair of doubles, a single-game career high. Sereniti Trice, Tatum Johnson, Angelina Allen, and Sydney Malott each had a hit while Andrews chipped in one as well – the biggest hit of the day. Andrews had the game-winning RBI, tying Ford for the most in the game.

Jaiden Ralston got the nod for ISU, as the junior handled the first four frames, allowing one run on six hits. In relief, Lauren Schurman (14-10) handled the final three innings, entering in the fourth with the game tied at one, as she earned the decision. Schurman was lock down during her time in the circle as she allowed just one hit and no runs.
A pair of Bears had two hits, as Brooklyn Carter and Karynton Dawson led the way, but a day after totaling 13 hits as a team, Baylor was limited to just seven. Lillie Walker (11-9) again started for BU, going 6.2 innings before allowing the game-winning hit off the bat of Andrews.
How it Happened
Baylor started things off promisingly, collecting a pair of base hits with just one out in the first frame. A pair of soft contact fly outs forced by Ralston though would retire the next two batters and get ISU to the bats.
After the Cyclones went three-up, three-down in the first, Baylor put the game's first run on the board in the second. A leadoff double from Turiya Coleman would score on a single from Amber Toven.
Iowa State answered the Baylor run with one of its own in the bottom of the second, as Allen led things off with a double to right field. With one out, Ford doubled to left center, just off the wall, to plate Allen from second and knot things up at one.
The two teams would combine for just five hits across the next four frames as the game would move to the seventh with the score remaining one-all.
Baylor's rally attempt fell flat, as the Bears went down in order to flip things to the bottom of the inning. In the bottom half of action, Ford led off with a double, but would eventually be picked off after taking too big of a lead from second. With one out, Nosan drew a walk and would be moved over to second on a groundout. With a runner in scoring position and two outs, Andrews stepped up to the plate and sent a 2-2 ball into right center, just over Baylor's centerfielder's head, to score Nosan from second and walk things off.
