Camblor Tabbed ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year

AMES, Iowa - Julia Camblor has been named the ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
Camblor put together one of the best freshman seasons in school history, earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors and a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. She tallied a 25-9 overall record in singles play, including 6-5 in conference action. Her six conference wins were the third-most in program history for a single season, while her 25 overall wins were the most by any Cyclone freshman.
The Gijon, Spain native was solid at the top of the lineup with a 10-4 mark at the No. 2 singles spot, her primary position, and 2-2 at No. 1 singles. Camblor went 6-3 in her last 10 matches and owned a team-best 12-6 record in dual matches.
Last week, Camblor was ranked as the No. 20 player in the central region.
Camblor is now in contention for the ITA National Rookie of the Year Award, which will be announced on Thursday, June 12th at 10 a.m. (CT).
