Pair of Cyclones to Represent Ecuador in Billie Jean King Cup

AMES, Iowa – Current Cyclone Valeska San Martin Ramirez and future Cyclone Valentina Vargas will represent Ecuador in the Billie Jean King Cup in Lima, Peru from June 18-21.
The pair will play for their home country in search of advancement from Group 2 to Group 1 of the Americas Group in 2026.
The other countries participating in the team event are Barbados, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Peru and Puerto Rico with the top two teams advancing to Group 1.
San Martin Ramirez (Machala, Ecuador) posted an 18-13 record in singles play as a sophomore in 2024-25. She won 31 total matches, 23 more than her freshman season.
Vargas (Guayaquil, Ecuador) signed with the Cyclones this spring and will join the team next season. She ranks No. 289 in the Junior ITF rankings.
This year's Billie Jean King Cup will be the 62nd edition of the tournament.
