Duckworth Earns Preseason All-Big 12

AMES, Iowa – Maya Duckworth was named a member of the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, announced by the league Wednesday.

Duckworth picks up the second preseason honor of her career. Duckworth has also earned AVCA All-Midwest Region, AVCA Regional Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 Second Team and three Big 12 Rookie of the Week awards throughout her years as a Cyclone.

In 2024 during her junior season, the outside hitter recorded a career-high 23 kills at K-State and vs. No. 17 Utah. At K-State, Duckworth had 19 through the first three sets alone. In the Utah match, she hit the first nine without an error and went on to hit at .327 through the night. Through 23 matches on the season, Duckworth showed her versatility totaling 215 kills, 109 digs, 30 blocks and 11 aces.

Entering her senior season, Duckworth ties for 23rd in Iowa State history with 842 career kills. Duckworth has also had 14 double-doubles, 49 10-plus kill matches and 19 10-plus dig matches in her career.

The Hurst, Texas native will be back in action Saturday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. for the Cardinal and Gold Scrimmage at Hilton. Admission is free.
