Cyclones in Third After Two Rounds of the Git R Done Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Cyclones sit in 3rd place after the first two rounds of the Git R Done Invitational. Iowa State carded a 279-283 (-6), and sit one stroke back from second place Kansas State. The Cyclones as a team finished the day with the second-lowest score on Par 5's (-13) and the third-lowest score on Par 4's (E).
Paul Beauvy leads the way for ISU after the first day, carding a 68-70 (-4) to start the tournament tied for 4th. Beauvy has carded seven birdies so far in the tournament. Jackson McCommon tied his second-lowest round of his career in the first round (69) to help him finish the day tied for 18th (E). McCommon tallied eight birdies in the first two rounds.
Owen Sawyer is also tied for 18th at the end of the first day, shooting even par. Sawyer carded eight birdies today and finished -3 on Par 5's, good for the seventh-lowest score in the field. Zach May jumped 25 spots after carding a 69 in the second round to tie for 23rd (+1). May tallied six birdies today.Â
Julian Geerebaert sits in a tie for 29th place after an even par 71 in the second round. Geerebaert carded eight birdies to help him finish the day two-over par. Drew Hensen is competing in his first career tournament this week, where he is playing as an individual. Hensen parred his first 15 holes and finished his first career round one-over par. The sophomore shot one-under in the second round to finish the day even-par and is tied for 18th place. Hensen carded four birdies, a tournament-high 28 pars and finished the day with the fifth-lowest score on Par 3's (E).
Host Nebraska (-19) ends the day with the lead, 12 strokes ahead of the rest of the field. Kansas State's Alex Lindstrom leads the individual race at -10, which included a tournament-low 63 in the first round.
Tee times for the third and final round of the Git R Done Invitational will start at 8 a.m. CT tomorrow morning.Â
