AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team heads west to Las Vegas this week to take on UNLV on Friday at noon. The Cyclones will look to get back to .500 on the season after picking up a victory against St. Thomas on Sunday.

Iowa State split its two home openers last weekend, falling to Wichita State, 4-2, on Saturday, before taking down St. Thomas, 6-1, on Sunday to earn its first victory of the season.

Mari Paz Alberto Vilar is slotted at No. 58 in this week's ITA singles rankings after an impressive fall season and solid start to the spring. Alberto Vilar is coming off a 6-3, 6-0 victory over St. Thomas' Carolina Lindahl at the No. 1 spot on Sunday. The sophomore is also part of the No. 51 doubles pair in the country with Stanislava Shulzhenko.
