Cyclones Sign Persaeus Gomez

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's wrestling has added its second transfer from McKendree in 131-pounder Persaeus Gomez, head coach Alli St. John announced.
With today's addition, Iowa State's incoming roster now sits at nine student-athletes.

Gomez prepped at Pomona, where she became the first four-time undefeated Colorado Girls State Champion. Gomez, who was coached by her father, Víctor, helped lead Pomona to a Colorado Girls State Team Championship in 2024. Out of high school, Gomez was rated as the class of 2024's No. 17 overall recruit by FloWrestling.
Gomez saw limited action at McKendree last season and joins Gabriella Gomez (no relation) in transferring to Iowa State. Gomez was a Fargo Junior Nationals champion in 2022, a year after finishing third in 2021, and was a finalist at Women's Nationals in 2022. She was a U17 Pan-American Champion and was also awarded Colorado's Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award in her senior season at Pomona.
