Zheng, ISU Lead the Badger Invitational With Nine Holes to Go

MADISON, Wis. - With nine holes to go in the Badger Invitational, freshman Emma Zheng leads the entire field at seven-under par. Zheng shot a 69 in the second round today, and is currently four-under halfway through her final round. The Cyclonitas (-11) moved up a spot and lead second place Northwestern by eight strokes heading into tomorrow. ISU is currently -7 as a team through nine holes in the final round.
Zheng carded seven birdies and an eagle today alone, the first of her career. The Auckland, New Zealand native is tied for first in Par 4 scoring (-3), tied for second in birdies (10) and tied for fourth in Par 5 scoring (-4). Nichakorn Pinprayoon shot an even-par 72 in the second round but is four-over halfway through the final round. Pinprayoon has dropped to a tie for sixth at even-par so far in the tournament, tallying nine birdies in the process.
Krittiya Thanintorndamrongdej is tied for eighth at +1 with nine holes to go. Thanintorndamrongdej shot a 75 in the second round, but went one-under par on the front nine of her final round, totaling six birdies throughout the tournament. Isabella Yan is tied for 11th (+2), shooting one-over in the second round and is even-par in the third. Yan is second in the field in Par 5 scoring average at 4.62 and has carded five birdies so far in the tournament.
Alexandra Vidal is also tied for 11th at two-over par. Vidal shot a 76 in the second round but is two-under in the final round. The junior from Barcelona, Spain is tied for first with Zheng in Par 4 scoring at three-under par, and has totaled eight birdies in the event. Individual Aelisa Twiltermsup is tied for 65th at 14-over par, tallying five birdies the last two days.
The Cyclonitas are first in Par 4 scoring (-1) and pars recorded (151), and is second in the field in Par 5 scoring (-10) and birdies carded (38).
The remaining nine holes of the Badger Invitational will take place tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. CT.
