Played sparingly in the first 29 games, logging ten at-bats and two starts … filled in for an injury against Arizona State (3/28) and never looked back, starting every game at catcher from there on … despite playing in 16 fewer games, Ford had 10 doubles, the third most on the team … her .585 SLG was the second-highest on the team … had the highest fielding percentage of any Cyclone with 100-plus chances … finished the year with 26 hits, 14 of which went for extra bases … had three hits against Kansas City (4/9) … had her first hit against ASU (3/28) … drove in six RBI at Utah (4/26) – four of which came on her first career grand slam … had two doubles against Baylor (5/3).
High School
A four-year letterwinner and starter, Ford helped Eisenhower achieve multitudes of success ... coached by Amber Brunswig and her mom, Kelsi Smith, Ford was a two-time 5a All-League catcher ... after a pair of third place finishes in the 5a state tournament in her freshman and sophomore year, Eisenhower was the state runner-up in her junior year ... Karlee rewrote the record books, tallying the most homers in a season (10), triples in a season (5), pickoffs in a season (5), stolen bases in a season (25) ... Ford not only was a standout on the diamond, but all was a cheerleader all throughout high school and a top-five power lifter in the state ... was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal
Daughter of both Kelsi Smith (mother) and Jarod Smith (stepfather) and Robert Ford (father) and Stephanie Ford (stepmother) ... has two brothers, Preston Ford and Martin Vogts and a sister, Logan Smith. Her mom, Kelsi Smith, played softball at Barton Community College, while stepfather Jarod Smith ran track & field at Hutch Community College.
