Outdoor: Did not compete.
Indoor: Ran in three meets for Iowa State … finished 12th in the 5,000 at the Big 12 Championships … ran personal best 14:43.66 in the 5K at the ISU Classic … competed in the 3,000-meter run at the Razorback Invitational (8:41.96).
XC: His first competition of the year came at the Big 12 Championship … helped Iowa State to its first Big 12 title finishing 18th individually, just shy of All-Big 12 honors, in 24:34.4.
2016-17
Outdoor: Ran in three meets for Iowa State … finished 10th in the 10,000-meter run at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships … also competed in the 5,000-meter run at the conference championships … took 12th in the 10,000-meter run at the Drake Relays, clocking his personal best time of 30:38.52 … took fifth in the 800 and sixth in the 1,500 at the Tulsa Duels.
Indoor: Took part in four meets during the indoor campaign for the Cyclones … finished 16th in the 3,000-meter run at the Big 12 Indoor Championships … run to a seventh-place finish in the 3,000 at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational … finished 10th in the 3,000 at the Husker Invitational, clocking a personal best time of 8:26.13 … also finished 10th in the 3,000 meters at the Iowa State Classic.
XC: Was one of three true freshmen to see action during the 2016 cross country season … made his collegiate debut at the season-opening Hawkeye Invitational … finished 14th in 18:39 as ISU’s sixth finisher, just one spot away from the scoring effort … placed 102nd (26:43) at the Roy Griak Invitational as the Cyclone men finished runner-up as a team … finished 144th (25:25) at the Wisconsin Invitational … took 33rd (26:34) at the 2016 Big 12 Championship in Lubbock, Texas as the ISU men finished second.
Before Iowa State
Had a tremendous prep career in North Dakota, where he was named the 2015 Gatorade Cross Country Athlete of the Year … won the state cross country title as a senior (2015) … on the track, Clausnitzer took home both the 1,600m and 3,200m titles from the North Dakota state track meet … placed 46th at the Nike Cross Nationals … finished fifth at the Nike Cross Heartland Regional … holds personal bests of 4:18.05 (1600m) and 9:10.79 (3200m).
