STILLWATER, Okla.--Andre Richardson's 21-yard run early in the fourth quarter, his second touchdown of the game, gave Oklahoma State its first Big 12 Conference win, a 28-27 victory over Iowa State.
Troy Davis had 236 yards on 38 carries for Iowa State (2-4, 1-2 Big 12). Davis, who last week became the first player in NCAA history to reach 1,000 yards in five games in two consecutive seasons, had a pair of TD runs that helped the Cyclones to a 17-7 halftime lead.
But Oklahoma State (4-3, 1-3 Big 12) featured a potent running game as well, with 363 yards. Richardson had 173 yards on 21 carries and David Thompson added 158 on 19 rushes. Thompson scored the Cowboys' lone touchdown of the first half, a one-yard run in the second quarter.
Richardson cut the defecit to 24-14 with his first touchdown, a 20-yard run midway through the third quarter. Quarterback Tone' Jones followed with an eight-yard score late in the period.
Following a fourth-quarter field goal by Iowa State, Richardson tied it with just under 10 minutes remaining. Tim Sydnes' extra-point kick staked the Cowboys to a one-point lead and they held on.
Jones was 14-of-21 for 179 yards for the Cowboys. Iowa State's Todd Doxzon was 6-of-10 for 59 yards and threw the only TD pass of the game, a one-yard pass to tight end Dennis DiBiase in the third quarter.
