AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team lost to Texas Tech, 3-2, at the Southwest Athletic Complex in Ames, Iowa, Saturday. Jen Bice pitched the first four innings, giving up five hits and two unearned runs. Mandy Loushin finished the final three, striking out three.
Kimi Yoshizawa put Iowa State on the board first in the third inning. She drew a walk, advanced to third on a hit by Lisa Frank and stole home on a double steal. Amberly Lessenger then singled home Frank to give the Cyclones the lead, 2-0, after three innings.
Texas Tech got on the scoreboard in the fourth after Kristi Tunnell singled in two Red Raiders to tie the score at two runs a piece. The third and deciding run came in the sixth when shortstop Paula Workman hit a solo home run to give the game its final score.
Jessica Polo hit her 10th double of the season in the second inning. Frank tallied her 18th stolen base of the season.
Iowa State completes the final game of the two game series with Texas Tech Sunday at 11 a.m.
