AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State had just one hit in the game but drew four walks and a hit by pitch in a three-run fourth inning to defeat North Dakota State, 3-1, in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader at the Southwest Athletics Complex.
The Cyclones (20-27) scored three runs on no hits in the fourth inning to take the win, snapping a three-game losing streak.
After Kristy Olsen grounded out to open the inning, Courtney Wray reached on a throwing error.
The Bison (21-17) had scored earlier in the fourth on a Jackie Currie single off Alyssa Ransom that scored Erin Troup. Troup pinch ran for Melissa Chmielewski, who led off the inning with a single.
Alex Johnson had the only hit of the game for the Cyclones, beating out an infield single in the fifth inning to break up the no-hitter.
Ransom (8-10) got the win for
Chmielewski finished the game 2-for-3 to lead the Bison.
Padilla (3-3) got the loss for NDSU, allowing three runs in 1 2/3 innings of work.
