WACO, Texas - Cyclone Erica Miller collected her 18th multi-hit game of the season on Friday night, going 2-for-3 at the plate, as Iowa State (14-34, 2-17 Big 12) dropped a 7-0 decision at No. 25 Baylor (31-19, 8-13 Big 12).
In her 13th complete game of the season, Bears starter Courtney Repka (16-11) allowed just three hits and struck out four of the 24 Cyclones she faced.
Cyclone freshman Lexi Slater led off the game with a bloop hit to right field but was stranded at third base after a sacrifice bunt from Sara Davison, a fly out from Miller and a pop up from Tori Torrescano to end the threat.
A sac fly from Kaitlyn Thumann plated Baylor's first run in the bottom of the first, followed by a two-out RBI double from Megan Turk to put the Bears up 2-0 after six outs.
Thumann struck again in the third with a single back to Torrescano to bring home Kathy Sheldon who reached on an error to lead off the inning, and another Cyclone error plated Kayce Walker for the 4-0 Baylor lead.
The Cyclones' recorded their second hit on a Miller single to right field with one out in the fourth but Miller would get no future after a line out by Torrescano and a Dalyn Varela strike out.
Walker crossed home again in the fifth frame on a throwing error by Iowa State to extend Baylor's lead to 5-0.
Miller collected her second hit of the game with a two-out double to left in the sixth before a swinging strike out by Torrescano sent the game into the bottom of the frame.
Baylor's final runs came home in the sixth on a fielder's choice and the Cyclones' fourth error of the game.
Torrescano (8-24) was charged with two earned runs on 10 Baylor hits, walking one and fanning two.
Saturday's game two begins at 2 p.m. CST at Getterman Stadium.
