The FGCU leadoff hitter reached again in the second inning with a single to right but was quickly erased on a stellar double-play grounder to Iowa State second baseman

With two outs in the third, Spendlove unloaded for her second home run of the season over the right field wall, bringing in Miller and Torrescano who each walked earlier in the frame.
The Eagles loaded the bases with one out in the third for Mariah Fernandez who lined a single to right for two runs, making the score 4-3, in favor of Iowa State.
Still with one out and runners at the corners, Lanier flew out to center, driving in the tying run. The Eagles scored their fifth run of the night on a Cyclone fielding error, retaking the lead, before a grounder back to Torrescano ended the inning.
Trailing 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Miller came to the plate with one out and hit a homer over the center field wall to even the score for the third time in the contest.
The home team sandwiched two singles around an Iowa State error in the bottom of the seventh to load the bases for Kayla Gabel with no outs. Gabel lined out to Davison at second and pinch hitter Jessica Butler flied out to short for the second out. Kelsey Carpenter stepped to the plate as FGCU's last chance for a walk-off win but could not push a run across, lining out to Davison and sending the game to extra innings.
Hawryluk got her first hit of the night with a two-out, infield single to score Slater from third, but
Maddie Reese got caught in a rundown between third and home, ending the Cyclone threat with the team leading by one, 6-5.
