AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Soccer team (2-10-2) is on the road this weekend to take on No. 7 West Virginia (11-3) on Friday in Morgantown, W. Va. The Cyclones and Mountaineers are set to play at 6 p.m. CT at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

Scouting the Mountaineers
West Virginia enters this weekend's match boasting a record of 11-3, including 4-1 in Big 12 play to tie for the conference lead. WVU has won three straight matches since a 1-0 loss at Texas, and moved up one spot to No. 7 in this week's NSCAA national top 25.
Outstanding senior forward Michaela Abam will be a player to watch for the Mountaineers. Abam, who was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, is also the conference's reigning co-Offensive Player of the Year. She leads WVU with 11 points on the season (four goals, three assists) and has put a team-high 22 shots on target.
Cyclone Soccer Headlines
-The Cyclones are coming off an 0-1-1 weekend in which they took both Oklahoma and No. 25 Oklahoma State to overtime. The Cyclones and Sooners ended their match in a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of action, while the Cowgirls got a "golden goal" in the 97th minute to defeat ISU.
-The 0-0 tie vs. Oklahoma marked Iowa State's first Big 12 points of the season. The Cyclones' scoreless outing wasn't for lack of an offensive attack, as Iowa State out-shot OU 19-14, inlcuding a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Klasey Medelberg led the way, with a career-high seven shots and was a problem for the Sooner back line all night.
-Stella Maris Strohman broke through with the first goal of her career vs. Oklahoma State. The native of Ames, Iowa, came up with the equalizer in the 29th minute off an assist from Courtney Powell. After Powell's head careened off the OU keeper's hands, Strohman sliced through the box to gather the rebound and put it in the back of the net.
-No. 7 West Virginia will be the fifth NSCAA top-25 opponent so far this season for the Cyclones. Following Friday's match Iowa State will have played four teams currently in the nation's top 10 (No. 6 USC, No. 7 West Virginia, No. 9 Texas and No. 10 Florida).
-Center backs Jordan Enga and Brianna Johnson have been stalwarts for the Cyclones. The duo have helped to steady an otherwise injury-riddled ISU back line, helping Iowa State to a 1.33 goals against average. Enga ranks No. 1 on the team in playing time with 1,303 of 1,318 possible minutes played so far this season. She has not been subbed out of a match since Aug. 21 vs. Minnesota.
-Medelberg has come on strong of late, scoring three of ISU's last four goals to lead all Cyclones this season. The junior forward ranks first on the team in points (6) and goals (3), and is No. 2 on the team in shots (22) and shots on goal (8). With six matches to play in the regular season, Medelberg is one goal shy of her 2016 season total of four.
-On Sept. 29, he Cyclones dropped a 2-1 decision at home to Kansas. Iowa State took a 1-0 halftime lead behind a beautiful strike from Klasey Medelberg in the 32nd minute, but were unable to hold off a relentless Jayhawk attack in the second stanza.
-Riley Behan, a junior defender, has started seven matches and has seen an uptick in playing time on the back line over the past month. The native of Davenport, Iowa, also notched the first assist of her career vs. Kansas, finding Medelberg for ISU's first goal in conference play.
-Goalkeeper Antonia Reyes has been excellent since breaking into the Iowa State starting lineup on Sept. 8 at Cal State Fullerton. Reyes and Dayja Schwichtenberg shared GK duties the next three games, but Reyes has been in goal for every minute of Big 12 play. The made a career-high eight saves at Texas.
