AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State Softball team (8-11) is bound for the Davis, California and the Aggie Invitational, hosted by UC Davis, this weekend. The Cyclones will be looking to rebound from a 1-4 mark at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah a week ago.
The Cyclones will be taking on Seton Hall, San Jose State and UC Davis once each during the tournament, as well as a pair of games against UMass. The tournament will be played at La Rue Field and will mark the start of ISU's 10-day spring break trip that leads into Big 12 play.

Radio: KDVS, UC Davis' on-campus radio station, plans to provide internet-only broadcasts of every Aggie Invitational game taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There will not be radio broadcasts for Sunday's games. Link to the audio stream can be found on the schedule page.

Cyclone Headlines
- The Iowa State softball team (8-11) is headed to Davis, California to compete in the Aggie Invitational, hosted by UC Davis. The Cyclones will face Seton Hall, San Jose State, UMASS (2x), and UC Davis.
-The Cyclones will look to bounce back from a 1-4 weekend at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah. The Cyclones did win their first extra inning game of the season while in Utah, with a 2-1 victory over Utah State on a walk-off RBI single from Rachel Hartman in the bottom of the 8th inning.
-Freshman Talyn Lewis had a strong showing in St. George, and was tremendous the Cyclone win over Utah State. Lewis went 3-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run. She also hit a double to lead off the eighth inning, and would later score the winning run on Hartman's walk-off hit.
-Savannah Sanders was one of three pitchers to see time in the circle over the weekend, and the sophomore played well. Sanders registered a 1.50 ERA, giving up just three earned runs in 14.0 innings of work while holding opponents to a combined .245 batting average.
-Kelsey McFarland's junior campaign is off to a strong start. The New Prague, Minn. native ranks among the top-50 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12 with a .482 batting average. McFarland leads the team with 27 hits and has stolen six bases in 19 games, after stealing one all of last season.
-Rachel Hartman was one of the highlights of ISU's weekend at the Samford/UAB Tournament. The senior notched her second home run of the season, as well as a double, on three hits in nine at-bats. Hartman's quality plate appearances were key for the Cyclones, as the native of Las Flores, Calif., drew three walks and had an on-base percentage of .538 for the weekend.
-ISU swept the Big 12 weekly softball awards following their first undefeated weekend since 2015. Sophomore Emma Hylen was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, while freshman Sami Williams was named Big 12 Player of the Week.
-Hylen went 1-0 with two saves on the weekend, including a career-high 11 strikeouts in Iowa State's 5-1 win over Alabama A&M. The sophomore gave up just 5 hits and no earned runs in 11.1 innings of work over the weekend.
-Williams went 6-of-14 at the plate at the Tiger Classic with three home runs and two doubles. The freshman, who has started every game this season at second base, also racked up a team-high nine RBIs at the tournament.
-The Cyclones set a single-game school record by scoring 21 runs in their victory over Alabama A&M on Feb. 18. The previous record of 20 runs was set on May 22, 1976 vs. Drake.
