WACO, Texas - The Iowa State soccer team (2-8-1) fell 1-0 to Baylor (7-2-1) in overtime on Sunday at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The Cyclones battled a physical BU side all afternoon, but fell in the match's first overtime period on a goal by Lauren Piercy in the 96th minute.
Brooke Tasker and Taylor Wagner had two shots each for the Cyclones, with one on goal for each player. Sophomore goalkeeper Antonia Reyes was excellent, despite the loss, with four saves on the day.
Turning Point of the Match
The Iowa State back line and Reyes fought the persistent Bear offensive attack all match, limiting most of BU's opportunities to shots from distance. Baylor finally broke through in the 96th minute with a "golden goal" by Lauren Piercy to end ISU's upset hopes. The goal came off an assist by Jackie Crowther.

Antonia Reyes. The sophomore goalkeeper was an integral part of the Iowa State effort that led to the 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. While the entire ISU defensive effort was strong, Reyes made multiple diving saves in the second half to keep the Cyclones alive.
Coach Speak
"It's always a hard-fought game against Baylor," said head coach Tony Minatta. "The girls really gritted it out and limited a lot of their chances. Antonia came up big. Given the conditions, I thought we gave everything we had, and in the end we didn't have enough to close out that overtime. I'm proud of the team and their effort. We just have to keep our heads up and keep moving forward because if they keep working like that, the wins will come."
On Deck
Iowa State returns to the Cyclone Sports Complex for its first home conference game of the season on Friday. The Cyclones take on Kansas at 7 p.m. in a match that will be televised on Cyclones.tv.
