AMES, Iowa – Iowa State is set for a pair of duals this weekend after a month off. The Cyclones will welcome Northern Colorado to Hilton Coliseum on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and will wrap up the weekend against Oregon State at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Both of the duals will be available through Cyclones.TV.

ISU vs. UNC History
- Iowa State leads the all-time series against Northern Colorado, 6-0.
- The Cyclones and Bears had not matched up since Jan. 25, 1957 until last season. Iowa State took down Northern Colorado in Greeley, 19-16.
- Their first meeting came in 1941. The Cyclones were victorious, 19-11 out in Greeley.
ISU vs. OSU History
- The Cyclones and Beavers have met 15 times in their history with Iowa State holding a 13-2 advantage over the Beavers.
- The last time the two teams squared off, it was the Beavers who came out on top. At National Duals on Feb. 12, 2012, OSU defeated ISU, 27-12.
- This series dates back to Jan. 21, 1972. Iowa State won the inaugural contest, 20-9.
Cyclone Headlines
- After a long break, Iowa State will return to the mat for a pair of duals against Northern Colorado and Oregon State.
- Iowa State kicks off the weekend with a contest against Northern Colorado. UNC, who joined the Big 12 as an affiliate member last season, was the Cyclones' only win during the 2016-17 campaign. All time, Iowa State holds a 6-0 record against the Bears. The series was renewed last season after the two squads had not met since 1957.
- On Sunday afternoon, Iowa State squares off with Oregon State. The last time the Cyclones and Beavers met up was at the National Duals in Feb. of 2012. There, OSU got the better of ISU, winning 27-12. The victory snapped a string of 11-straight wins for Iowa State in the series. All-time, Iowa State owns a 13-2 advantage over Oregon State.
- Iowa State has three wrestlers receiving national rankings. Ian Parker (19, NR, 20), Kanen Storr (11, 19, NR) and Jarrett Degen (NR, 20, 18) are all ranked in this week's FloWrestling, Intermat and the OpenMat polls.
- Iowa State's last dual action came against Wyoming. The Cyclones dropped a 24-14 matchup with the Cowboys in which four individual Iowa Staters picked up victories.
- For Jakob Allison, it was his first career dual victory. The former club wrestler trailed 6-0, but battled back to take a 7-6 lead over Trent Olson after one period of action. In the second, Allison turned Olson over for a fall in 3:48.
- Chase Straw also picked up an emphatic win in the contest. He used a takedown with under 20 seconds remaining in the match to knock off No. 13 Archie Colgan by 4-3 decision.
- Jarrett Degen and Marcus Harrington won their matches by decision to both remain undefeated in dual action this season.
- The same day as the Wyoming dual, the Cyclones sent a handful of wrestlers to the UNI Open. There, Markus Simmons, Marcus Coleman and Gannon Gremmel all won titles, while Dante Rodriguez finished runner-up.
- At the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Kanen Storr finished eighth place at 141-pounds. Storr posted a 3-3 record in Vegas in a loaded 141-pound bracket that featured 12 wrestlers ranked in the top-20.
- The Cyclones dropped a tough one to No. 22 Rider, 22-15. In the match, Iowa State won five out of the 10 bouts, but the Broncs' three bonus-point victories were enough to push them past the Cyclones.
- Nine Cyclones earned top-6 finishes in the Lindenwood Open Open Division, while redshirting freshmen Ryan Leisure and Marcus Coleman won titles at their respective weights in the freshman/sophomore division.
- ISU saw three grapplers reach the finals in their bracket. Ian Parker (133), Jarrett Degen (149) and Dane Pestano (184) all reached the finals and finished runner-up.
- Iowa State opened the dual season with a 21-16 loss to the Drexel Dragons. Iowa State won four out of the first six bouts, but dropped four straight matches to finish the dual.
- The Cyclones opened the season with the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open. Ian Parker, Gavin Dewitt and Chase Straw all won individual titles, while Marcus Harrington finished runner-up.
- The Iowa State roster is as youthful as any in the country. The Cyclones currently have 26 wrestlers who are freshmen or sophomores and only seven who are juniors or seniors.
