HUMBOLDT, Iowa – No. 3 Iowa State topped No. 15 South Dakota State, 29-7, Sunday afternoon in front of a standing room only crowd at Humboldt High School.
The Cyclones won 8-of-10 bouts against the Jackrabbits and owned the takedown battle, 26-7. Iowa State improved to 5-0 inside of Humboldt High School, the home of head coach Kevin Dresser.
No. 13 Stevo Poulin won his fourth-consecutive match with a solid 5-2 decision over No. 21 Brady Roark at 125 pounds. Poulin, now 8-5 on the season, used a first period takedown and finished with over a minute of riding time against Roark.
At 133 pounds, No. 3 Evan Frost picked up two bonus points for the Cyclones with a 20-4 tech fall over Cale Seaton. Frost had a takedown and ride out in the first period before tacking on five additional takedowns in the final two periods to end the match in 6:39. Frost is now 13-1 on the season.
South Dakota State got on the scoreboard at 141 pounds with a major decision before No. 6 Jacob Frost got the Cyclones back on track at 149 pounds. Frost chased a tech fall but came up just short, finishing with a 17-4 major decision over Colin Dupill.
The Jackrabbits would get a decision at 157 pounds to cut the team score to 12-7 in favor of the Cyclones at the intermission.
Out of the break, No. 17 Connor Euton wrestled one of his best matches of the season in an 11-4 decision over No. 26 Marcus Espinoza-Owens. Euton got to his offense early and often to the tune of two first period takedowns. The Cyclone improved to 12-3 on the season with his sixth-consecutive victory.
It was a top-20 battle at 174 pounds between No. 15 MJ Gaitan and No. 18 Moses Espinoza-Owens. It was a low-scoring match but Gaitan came out on top, 5-1, thanks to a third period takedown.
No. 12 Isaac Dean conceded the first takedown to Brock Fettig at 184 pounds but came back to win it, 8-5, in overtime. Dean tallied a takedown in the second and overtime periods and improved to 14-4 on the season.
In the dual's marquee matchup, No. 2 Rocky Elam started fast against No. 6 Bennett Berge with a takedown in the first 10 seconds of the match. Elam would ride Berge for the remainder of the opening period as he cruised to a 5-1 decision over the Jackrabbit.
No. 1 Yonger Bastida conceded his second takedown of the season but still eased his way to a 25-9 tech fall, his ninth of the season, over No. 24 Luke Rasmussen. The Cyclone maintained his perfect record, now 16-0 on the season.

Iowa State heads south next weekend for duals at Oklahoma and No. 5 Oklahoma State next weekend on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
