OMAHA, Neb. – Iowa State (1-4) fell 1-0 at Creighton (3-1) on a Blue Jay goal in the 88th minute by Skylar Heinrich on Friday evening at Morrison Stadium.
Key Moments
The Cyclones battled the Blue Jays fiercely throughout Friday's match, holding the dangerous Creighton attack at bay until the very end. With just over two minutes remaining in regulation CU's Juelle Love created a turnover deep in her own attacking third, and played the ball to forward Skylar Heinrich, who took advantage for what would be the game-winner.
Cyclone Game Ball Goes to...
Courtney Powell. The junior from La Porte City, Iowa, has been playing at a high level of late and that trend continued on Friday night in Omaha. Powell, a midfielder, was tied for the team lead with three shots on the night with one on frame. The speedster helped create multiple chances for the Cyclones on runs down the sideline.
Coach Speak
"Obviously, it was a tough way to go out," head coach Tony Minatta said. "We saw a lot of positives from the game. We have to keep building and progressing as a team. We're trying to find the right combinations that will work at the right time. Every one of these games makes us tougher and puts us in a position to learn, grow and get better."
